The Hawthorn was built in 1894 to take advantage of magnificent harbor views to the East and Mount Battie to the West. A short walk to town or harbor, yet removed enough to ensure a restful retreat and peaceful getaway, The Hawthorn also is a beautiful venue for weddings.

The Inn has 10 spacious and beautifully appointed guest suites and rooms; six rooms are in the Main House and four in the Carriage House. All rooms have private baths; four in the Carriage House have two-person Jacuzzi tubs, and two in the Main House have claw-foot Victorian soaking tubs. The spacious lawn and gardens can accommodate a wedding tent and guests, and the veranda at the back of the Main House is suitable for receptions and small sit-down dinners. 

For outdoor weddings, the Inn is best suited for no more than 75 guests. For indoor weddings, the Inn is best suited for from 30 to 40 guests, depending on the type of event. Small weddings of 20 and under are ideal in this intimate, romantic setting-any time of the year.

• A one-night deposit is required for stays up to 3 days; stays over 3 days require a 1/3 deposit. A 14-day notice is required for cancellation and refund of deposit. Any partial or full cancellations within the 14 days of arrival incur responsibility for the entire stay if the room(s) is not re-rented. Cancellation fee of $25.00
• We are a completely nonsmoking inn and property and reserve the right to add a $200 cleaning fee to the bill if a guest smokes in the room or a $100 maintenance fee if a guest smokes and discards cigarettes on the property. We will be happy to help a guest who smokes to find another place to stay.
• Breakfast meats are not served at the Inn; smoked fish is served on occasion. Meals are nutritious and healthful, using organic and locally grown produce and products where possible. We strive to accommodate all dietary considerations when advised in advance. We also are concerned about food allergies and allergies to down/feathers and ask that you advise us of any.
• The Hawthorn is striving to be a Green Inn. We promote water conservation; we use environmentally sustainable products wherever possible and appropriate; we recycle; and we use organic, locally produced/grown products.
• Wax candles and votive lights are not allowed in guest rooms; the Inn has a supply of Hollowick liquid candles at request.
• Pets are not allowed. The Inn has a resident Smooth Fox Terrier named Tori, who is loved by all.
